The Fifth Annual Gala

Each year APABA-CO hosts a Gala as a fundraising and awareness event at which we include speakers and cultural experiences in furtherance of our mission. Our annual gala is also a celebration of APABA-CO’s achievements and activities throughout the year. The Fifth Annual Gala will take place on November 1 , 2011 at 6:00PM.

The Bluestone (Formerly BoMA) located at 583 E. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215.

Second Annual Family Picnic

APABA-CO will be having its' second annual family picnic. It will be on Saturday, September 11, 2011 at 12PM. The location is at Scioto Park--South Shelter-7377 Riverside Dr. Dublin, OH 43016.

Last year's picnic was a huge success, and we are hoping for an even better turn out this year! Family and significant others are encouraged to attend. There will be sports, entertainment, and other games, but feel free to bring whatever picnic-friendly things you have lying around in your basements or garages--baseballs, volleyballs, corn hole sets, frisbees, etc. The event will be catered by City BBQ and will also feature a vegetarian option. We can't wait to see you there!

 

JMLBA/APABA-CO Minority Summer Associate Panel

APABA-CO and John Mercer Langston Bar Association are co-hosting a minority summer associate panel. The topic this year is Personal Branding. We encourage summer minority associates and law students to attend as it would be a great networking opportunity as well as to learn how to brand yourself in the legal field. If you know of any summer minority associates or law student, please pass this invitation along. Happy Hour

Clippers Game

APABA-CO invites you to enjoy some fresh air and sunshine (hopefully) at a Clippers' baseball game. The game will take place at Huntington Park in the Arena District on Wednesday, May 18, at 6:35pm, where the Clippers will be taking on the Pawtucket Red Sox. Tickets will be provided, along with $10 in Clippers Cash--good for food and beverages. The tickets will be held at the center field gate on the corner of Neil and Nationwide. APABA-CO Networking Luncheon

Please join us for our April Networking Lunch at the law offices of Kegler, Brown, Hill & Ritter, located at 65 East State Street, Suite 1800, Columbus, Ohio 43215, on Monday, April 25th from 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.. While the luncheon commences at noon, please consider arriving early for networking and registration beginning at 11:30 am.

April’s featured speaker will be Neeli Bendapudi, Ph. D., Professor of Marketing and Director of the Initiative for Managing Services in the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University.

Japan Relief Effort Fundraiser/Happy Hour

Our thoughts are with the people of Japan and our friends and family affected by the tragic earthquake and tsunami. The Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Central Ohio is sponsoring a fund-raiser/happy hour on Wednesday, March 30, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Bar 23, which is located on The Cap in the Short North. To help with immediate emergency relief and humanitarian efforts in Japan, we will be collecting donations at the door and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross.

In an effort to bring our community together, we are inviting APABA-CO members as well as other local organizations including the Young Asian American Professional Network, American Constitutional Society, Asian American Community Services, the John Mercer Langston Bar Association, and the Columbus chapter of the National Association of Asian American Professionals. However, all are invited and we appreciate your support for this worthy cause.

In order to maximize our fundraising efforts, APABA-CO will match the donations collected up to $500. There will be drinks and appetizer specials and small bites will be provided by APABA-CO. Bar 23 is located at 584 N. High Street.

Collaborative Charity Happy Hour

Please join APABA-CO, ACS Columbus Lawyer chapter, the CBA’s LGBT and Young Lawyers Committees for a collaborative charity happy hour on December 1, 2010 from 5PM to 7PM. The event will take place at Bar 23 located at 584 N High St, Columbus, OH 43215 in the Short North. There is a donation fee of $5.00 in order to receive reduced price on the drinks. APABA-CO will cover the donation fee for its members. We hope to see you there.

APALSA - Judge Thapar @ Moritz

APALSA would like to invite you to attend their event with Guest Speaker Federal District Court Judge Amul R. A Conversation on Sentencing

ABAPA-CO, ACS Columbus Lawyer chapter, the John Mercer Langston Bar Association and the Moritz Law student chapter of ACS are co-hosting an event entitled A Conversation on Sentencing on Monday, October 18, 2010 at 6:00PM. The event will take place at the Ohio State University Student Union. The discussion will be on the impact of the sentencing laws, the recent changes to the laws, and whether we will see any changes in the near future.

CBA - Minorities in the Law Committee - Networking Happy Hour
